Kuah Restaurants

Most locals will tell you Kuah is hardly a gastronomic goldmine but seafood and Chinese fare are all par for the course here. Due to its relatively large population and the number of hotels in the area, there is a good range of dining venues to choose from. The Langkawi Fair shopping mall is home to more than a few upmarket restaurants as well as the only fast food outlets – like MacDonald’s and KFC – on Langkawi Island. Nevertheless if you’re looking for Western gastronomy options you’re better off heading over to the Pantai Tengah and Pantai Cenang stretch since Kuah’s international cuisine list is decidedly limited.

Conversely if you’re to sample authentic Langkawi seafood delights, you’re in the right place. Seafood in Kuah is comparatively cheaper here than along the Pantai Cenang and Pantai Tengah stretch. What’s more the open-air stalls and Chinese kopitiams along the seafront road offer the best fare in the afternoon; Malay food can also be found in the dozens of hawker stalls scattered around Kuah – try the Langkawi specialty of mee gulung.
